CACD is delighted to announce that it has received funding from the Irish Government’s Reconciliation Fund for an exciting new project, 250 Years of American Independence: Shared Histories, Shared Futures.

The project will begin in mid-September with an information event before being delivered throughout the winter months.

Using the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence as a shared, neutral reference point, the programme will create structured opportunities for participants to explore themes of democracy, migration, identity, and political change. By reflecting on the historical and cultural connections between Ireland, the United States, and our own communities, participants will be encouraged to engage in meaningful dialogue, build understanding, and consider shared futures.

As America marks 250 years of independence, this innovative programme will bring people together to reflect on the connections between our histories, cultures, and communities through a range of engaging discussions, workshops, and interactive activities.

CACD is grateful to the Irish Government’s Reconciliation Fund, administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs, for supporting this project and making these valuable opportunities possible.

Further information about the project, including how to get involved, will be available in CACD’s September newsletter.
