CACD is delighted to announce our exciting new project, 250 Years of American Independence: Shared Histories, Shared Futures. The project has been made possible through funding from the
Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade Reconciliation Fund. Using the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence as a shared and neutral reference point, the programme
will create opportunities for people from across our communities to explore themes including democracy, migration, identity and political change.
Throughout the winter months, participants will take part in a range of engaging discussions, workshops and interactive activities, exploring the historical and cultural connections between Ireland, the United States and our own communities. It will also be an opportunity to meet
others interested in exploring these themes and contributing to meaningful conversations about our shared histories and shared futures.
A Great Start to Our American Independence Project
We were delighted to welcome everyone to Tandragee Golf Club for the first event of our exciting new American Independence Project!
The evening was a great opportunity to find out more about what the project will involve, while getting to know one another through some fun and interactive icebreakers. David, also gave a presentation outlining what participants can expect over the coming months.
Throughout the project, participants will have the opportunity to attend a number of informative talks, exploring the history surrounding American Independence and the links between Northern Ireland and American culture. There will also be several study visits, including a residential, making this a fantastic opportunity to learn, explore and meet new people along the way.
It is sure to be a very worthwhile and enjoyable project, with lots of exciting activities planned!
Expression of Interest forms were available on the night for anyone wishing to put their name forward to get involved. If you were unable to attend, don’t worry – it’s not too late! You can still request an Expression of Interest form from David, our Project Coordinator.
