Clear Project supported by the Public Health Agency
We are delighted to be working on the Clear Project kindly supported by the Public Health Agency. This 12 week programme is a hands on skills programme tackling mental health for older men teaching them a variety of skills such as woodburning, upholstery and cooking.

Mental Health Talk
The group attended a Mental Health and wellbeing talk from Lynsey from Relate NI on what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like and how you can look after your mental health. The men also received a cooked breakfast at the talk to start the day of.

Cookery Demonstration
The group visited Bide A while in Mountnorris where Sharon provided a demonstration on how to make an easy 3 course meal. The men had a great time helping prepare the food and tasting the final product.

Upholstery
The group took part in 4 sessions of upholstery by William Steenson where participants upcycled their own furniture, learning a new skill and teamwork which they can use to be more sustainable by restoring their own furniture.

Woodworking
On group took part in 3 woodworking sessions with Jason from ToyboxesNI to make a cheeseboard. The men had a fantastic time at these workshops and the finished product looked very professional.

Flower Planters
The group also built flower planter boxes which was facilitated by Jason of Toyboxes NI .

Pyrography
The group were delighted to have 3 pyrography (woodburing) sessions at Lily’s Craft Attic. Thank you Lynn for teaching everyone this skill. The men made their own designs on chopping board.
